Tom emigrated to the USA in February 1968 and settled down in Lutherville, Maryland.
Mieke followed him with Elleke and Frank in July of the same year.

Tom married Maria Theresia Louise VAN DEURSEN "Mieke", daughter of Willem Hendrik VAN DEURSEN "Wim" and Theresia VAN VELZEN "Trees", on 27 Dec 1963 in The Hague, Netherlands. Mieke was born 30 Oct 1943 in The Hague, Netherlands.

They had the following children:
