Being
the first of the three children Elleke was born in The Hague on February 13,
1966. She was baptized in the Holy Family church, the same parish church in
which her parents were married a few years earlier.
Mieke's parents were present as her Godfather and Godmother.
When Elleke was born her dad was at sea. He was sailing as a captain on a liner
service from Bermuda. When she was 4 months old she came with her mother to
Bermuda.

They lived on the island until dad had completed his contract.
In December 1967 the family returned to Holland
for a vacation but in on July 1, 1968 the family left Holland and settled down
in Lutherville, Maryland.
She attended a parochial school in Towson called "The Immaculate Conception"
school.
Ironically she would later become a teacher at a parochial school in Pen Argyl,
PA also called "The Immaculate Conception".
When in 1976 the family moved to Franklin Lakes in New Jersey Elleke was in 4th
grade and continued her studies on the elementary school in Franklin Lakes.
In 1980 when the family moved again, this time to Blairstown, she continued her
studies on the North Warren Regional High School in 8th grade.
In 1984 after graduation she went on to the East Stroudsburg University (ESU)
where she took up her studies for her elementary education and Spanish majors.
It was on the University that she met Scott Moyer of Bethlehem, PA who she later
married.
Scott was born and raised in the Bethlehem area.
In December 1988 they both graduated on the same day during the same ceremony.
After graduation Scott became a special education teacher and Elleke started as
a substitute teacher in elementary education.
In September, 1989, she was offered a permanent position at the elementary
parochial school in Pen Argyl called "The Immaculate Conception" school. She has
been teaching there 5th Grade ever since.
While teaching she returned to the East Stroudsburg University (ESU) to study
for her master degree in elementary education.
She completed that in 1994.
Scott started teaching for in the Northampton school district, then he moved to
the Wilson district and teaches now in Nazareth.

Elleke met Scott when they both were studying for
their teacher's degrees on ESU, the University of East Stroudsburg.
On October 7, 1995 Elleke and Scott were married in St. Roch's, our parish church.
They made their own home in Plainfield Township, PA about halfway between
Elleke's parents in Bangor and Scott's parents in Bethlehem.
Until the summer of 2001 they both were teaching but now Elleke stays home
taking care of little Joseph and Maribel, the new members of the family. |
